Harvested Boneset leaves, wild Elderberry flowers, White Yarrow flowers, Sassafras leaves, Eastern Redcedar berries, and Queen Anne’s Lace flowers. Froze the harvested flowers. Checked on the potatoes and they are looking really good! I covered the potatoes that were starting to show. I think that I see some of the peanuts coming up. The Aronias could use another feeding. I did not see any ginger nor turmeric growing, so I may replace with potato skins, beans, or some other plants. I see some Buckwheat flowering in various places. Some of the Cilantro is starting to flower (to form Coriander)! I do not see many carrots. The garlic looks good. The sweet potatoes look okay.
Some of the wild Elderberries that I coppiced last year are looking real good, others not. I think that location may be starting to get too much shade. The other grouping of Elderberries that gets more sun have a lot more flowers and look a lot healthier too. I see a lot of blackberries and some are starting to ripen. The various native mints smell good and I dispersed some dried flower heads along the eastern edge. I am seeing more Yarrow coming up in different places. I still cannot find the Sassafras tree but see more suckers.
I see a lot more American Persimmon trees coming up, as well as Eastern Redcedar seedlings. I definitely want to make some paths this year into both of the brush piles to make it easier to harvest and to get work done.
Cut into smaller the Oak branches and dispersed primarily in the southern area, including the southern forest. The Marshmallow is looking really good. It definitely has found itself a good home!
Broadcasted Scarlet Nantes Carrot in one of Ajani’s cleared areas. Broadcasted Cosmic Purple Carrot and Forellenschluss Lettuce with the ginger and turmeric. Also broadcasted Forellenschluss Lettuce amongst the Aronias.
