I used the existing hole that you had dug to heel the trees in it (the identification for the Sycamore came off but I still have it and can add when I purchase new ones). I added Vermiculite, Bat guano, and Kelp meal to the dirt after digging it out. I covered them.
I noticed the best looking tree was the Cherry and it’s the shadiest spot, which could have something to do with it as well as it’s the closest to the forest edge too. The tree that looked the worst was the unnamed tree (the writing has worn off) on the eastside. The other trees have new side growth except for the Cherry tree which is growing leaves on existing branches.
I did clear away plants from around the trees. I went into the forest area in the South and noticed a lot of diversity there as well in the former forest garden area. I saw about 5 if not more Maple trees near the recently dug hole for the new trees.
