Greenville, KY

On my way up to our two acres I found a decaying log and put out in the northeastern area. It rained a good portion of yesterday afternoon and into the evening, and with it has come cooler temperatures.

Planted Dutch Red Shallot in the center of "Allium" area. Composted one that had mold on it. Planted St. Helens Garlic in the Happy Frog Potting Soil bed to the south of the Dutch Red Shallots. Planted Nootka Rose Garlic north and east of the Dutch Red Shallots. In all three areas I found earthworms and much better soil than what Josephine and I encountered when we built the hügelkultur in 2014. Also found a baby mustard green near where I planted the Nootka Rose Garlic.

Dug up a native mint (not sure of the variety) near the Nootka Rose Garlic and added to the northern part of the southern brush pile in the area that I had worked on in October.

Broadcasted Alabama Blue Collards and Purple Top White Globe amongst the Dutch Red Shallots and Nootka Rose Garlic.

Looked for and found the Wild Strawberry it is north of the bed for the corn, beans, squash, et al. Planted Nootka Rose Garlic near the and around the Wild Strawberry.

Found a location for the Goldenseal I am planting this year—it’s north of the Wild Strawberry. Put four tobacco sticks around the perimeter and planted Nootka Rose Garlic within the perimeter.

Composted decaying Habanero Chiles in the ginger et al area and the Allium area so they can grow next year.
